There is so much hype about these underwear that it’s actually kind of silly. I bought a first pair from REI about two years ago. They were every bit as good (and expensive) as the reviews said.

Three pairs can now be had for what used to buy just one. What’s interesting is if you dig through the amazon reviews you’ll see people ranting about how the quality is not what it used to be. I have no idea if that’s true, but I will tell you that right now, they’re awesome and totally worth it.

First Impressions

The packaging boasts “travel underwear”. To be honest, who gives a shit. But for a premium pair, they look the part. ExOfficio markets these as a “travel underwear”, which I suppose means anything from sitting on a long flight, to hiking the national parks.

Material

The material is pretty unique. It’s an athletic material of typical ingredients: 94% nylon, 6% spadex. It’s not smooth however, it has a mesh-live weave which gives makes them very light and breathable. I took these on some grueling multi-mile hikes, and afterwards I changed them only because it seemed like the right thing to do. Notice the ridiculously long label. That’s my only (minor) issue with these. Usually you won’t feel it but every now and then it will twist and credit card you in the asscrack. Why?

Fit

The fit is on the looser side, plenty of sub-sack wiggle room. They definitely aren’t too loose though. We aren’t getting into boxer territory or anything. There is plenty of stretch here.

Comfort

Amazing marks for comfort. These have a nice generous “rise”, or, the distance in between the scrote pouch and the waistband. It’s PERFECT. So many other pairs go too short on that spacing. The result is they are either riding your nuts or letting a cool breeze down you ass crack.

The Bottom Line

These are, simply put, the best underwear I’ve tested so far. At time of writing Amazon is offering the by far the best price on these. Snag a 3 pack, or multiple to stock your drawer.
