First Impressions

The Uniqlo Airism are an affordable, lightweight, synthetic pair of boxer briefs. Priced at a mere $9.60 per pair, my expectations were not high, however I’ve found Uniqlo to be generally a good value in the past. The basic packaging is to be expected. This is where I discovered I had accidentally ordered both a regular pair, and a pair of low-rise. Note that the low-rise pair also forgoes a fly, which may matter to you. Me, I’m a fly guy.

Material

Close up photo of the material and waistband stitching A very stretchy and thin polyester (89%) and spandex (11%) blend. They come in a variety of geometric patterns and colors which look good. They appear on the smaller size.

Fit

The fit is decidedly snug, yet stretchy and not “tight”. There is no bunching and (definitelty) no excess material. At first they felt like they could be a winner. I wore them throughout the day and logged about 4 miles of walking, which is where problems started. These ride up like crazy. The tightness and thin material began to get to me. It felt like I had rubber bands around my thighs. There is no way I could make it a whole day in these.

The low-rise pair were even worse.

The Bottom Line

Skip these, instead go with our top pick, the Ex Officio Give-N-Go.
